Below is the brief write-up on how to add Google Analytics to a WordPress page
- Create a Google Account and Login
- Go to the Google Analytics page
- Select Admin in the bottom left courner
- In the first panel, under Account drop-down, select Create new Account
- Set Account Name to yourwebsite name, minus the www. and .com (or whichever one you are using)
- Set WebSite Name to your website name; this time include .come (or whichever one you are using)
- Set Website URL to your website name with www and .com included
- Select Industry Category
- Select TimeZone
- Select Get Tracking ID
- Accept Terms and Conditions
- Copy the newly created Tracking ID to your clipboard (select it and press <cntrl> and <c> at the same time)
WordPress page Admin Portal (your website/wp-admin)
- Install and Activate the Google Analytics for WordPress by MonsterInsights plugin
- Select Settings for the plugin
- Click on Authenticate with your Google account
- Click Next
- Press on Click to Get Google Code
- Login into your Google Account from the dialog window that was presented to you
- Select Allow
- Copy the code presented (long string of random numbers and characters) to your clipboard and close that window
- Paste the code into the box as specified on the form and click Next
- Select the Analytics profile you created above from the drop-down box and click Next
- Click Close
- Optional: check the Allow Usage Tracking box
- Click Save Changes
You are done!
The first results will be available for analysis on the Google Analytics website in 24 to 48 hours.
